the weather on the 4th of July was incredible, not super hot and oppressively humid, so i took the Westy up to Jim Thorpe, PA to ride in the Lehigh Gorge.

traffic was starting to backup by the train station, but the wait to get thru town wasn't as long as it would be in a few hours.

haven't been riding as much lately, so it felt good to be back on the bike. getting an early start meant very few others were out on the trail... for most of the ride i saw few others.

hey look at that, a train! this is the Pittson to Jim Thorpe excursion coming down thru the gorge, and will arrive in Jim Thorpe in about 10 minutes.

once past Penn Haven Jct, where the Reading and Northern line crosses the rail trail and then the Lehigh River, the former CNJ line travels thru a tunnel of trees.

i rode from Glen Oknoko to Rockport, and just before Rockport is Luke's Falls.

on the way back i came across this pair of deer. the trailing deer is a young buck. they were no no hurry and let me get very close.

once back to the Westy, i cleaned up and ate lunch. then, right on time, a Jim Thorpe gorge train went past. this train heads up about 5 miles into the gorge and is a fun trip.

heading back home, a rather large crane was showing off the Stars and Stripes for all to see. Happy Birthday America!

Cool man! They are some great pictures. I love that area. Isn't this weather just awesome, definitely not what our weekends have been like around here lately.
