The square tab on the bulb-holder slips into the slot in the reflector, snug press fit alone holds it together. Any other small holes are insignificant. For the reflector, a hole might be used for hanging in the chrome plating process. On the bulb-holder, I dunno. I have found that adding a ground wire to the bulb-holder improves reliability and may even slow corrosion between the other parts.
