|
|
Hi all, working on my 1978 T2b westfalia Berlin 2.0L injection USA.
I was replacing my ignition switch and when taking apart the steering stuff, I found a small broken part laying on my indicator switch.
Also the spring is missing (the one shaped as a chinese dragon that does the return/cancel of the turnsignal dwitch lever), so maybe it is from that area ?
However, when I check pics of an intact/new one I cannot find this shape.
Where did it came from / what is it ?
Thanks for your input, maybe more stuff to order.... |

Wherever it's from, that is a prong that fits into a slot somewhere; the two points squeeze together when you install the whatsis and then spring back out to secure. You then squeeze the prongs together to remove when disassembling again. So look for something that is loose that shouldn't be.
EDIT - since you are missing the spring, maybe look at area under it

Thanks, since I have no black parts under the spring at all (anymore), it must be a part of that.
With current worn setup all works, just the auto-cancel not, but that never did work in the 12 years I have the bus, so that would be a new feature for me |

switches for a late bay of that year can still be found. I'd consider replacing it while you can. _________________ "Most people don't know what they're doing, and a lot of them are really good at it." - George Carlin |

The new parts were found, ordered and just came in.
Indicator switch, return/cancel/horn-ring and the steeringshaft bearing.
Thanks for support and suggestions

awesome. Some of this stuff exists Monday and Tuesday they are NLA and no one has them anywhere. Doing this now insures that you get it fixed. I can think of a dozen items that went from reasonably price and available to NLA instantly in the last 15 years. _________________ "Most people don't know what they're doing, and a lot of them are really good at it." - George Carlin |
