|
|
The newest beetle I have ever owned is a 1973 super, so my new to me 1978 convertible has some things I’m not familiar with. I have questions about the things in these pictures?
What is the green dot button?
Is this an amplifier for the stereo?
I suspect this goes in the front trunk somewhere as a cover?
Where do I strap this hook from the rear boot cover? I don’t see an obvious spot.
I’m assuming this is part of the speedometer given that the end of that Cable looks familiar, but why is there a box and what is the multi prong plug that is below where the cable goes in? It was unplugged when I got the car.
Thanks in advance for helping a new vert owner

Sorry for the horrible photo, but there's a little screw hook that strap hooks onto. If yours isn't there, hardware store should have some, or bend some eyescrews.

Is there a gas heater in the trunk?, the mystery switch could be for that.
The cardboard thing is the cover for the fuel injection ECU.
Nice looking car!, let's see the engine compartment. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Learn something every day, when I plugged the EGR mileage counter back in the speedometer started working! _________________ 1973 Super Beetle project

Very nice!, try not to molest it, it looks original and well cared for.
Of course I'll have to add the standard PSA about if you don't know the age of the rubber fuel hoses replace them with new FI rated ethanol proof hose soon, FI leaks get exciting real quick and by the time you notice the flames behind you it's too late.
And do any of the rubber seals under the injectors or on the manifold joints too, L-jet isn't smart enough to compensate for vacuum leaks. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
