I have been taking my bug to car shows for 7 years now. Went to today's show and heard a term I've never heard before. Two separate guys came up to my car and said I love "Vee-Wees".
What!?? It took a second to wrap my head around what he had said.
so I come here, has anyone ever heard bugs referred to as Vee-Wees? anyone have a back story on this term? _________________ 1963 Ragtop

Maybe it's a regional thing. If they are both from Billings, MT ...

| Never heard that one before. It sounds somewhat derogatory like urination. |

apparently it's a recognised, affectionate colloquialism for vws. I am familiar with it from this parts company...

Here I thought it was a patented name for a funnel handy for long distance trips. _________________ Current Fleet:

| I think Vee-Wee might be a high pressure issue when you relieve yourself. |

Overhere in the Netherlands (Next to Germany) we call all Volkswagens "Vee-Wee's", it's basicly VW only in our language the "ee" behind the letters are pronounced same as the letter "a" (or "ay" like in way) in English _________________ '68 1300 Bug |

Pretty common term, in my experience -- I've heard people casually refer to any & all models of VW vehicles as a "Vee-Wee" for years. _________________ 1971 Standard Beetle — fairly stock / driver

| Back in the 60s & 70s "puddle jumper" and "pregnant roller skate" were pretty common. |
