Hi, the boot on one of my nearly new cv joints has come away. I’ve just had the engine rebuilt so I’m guessing they fucked it getting the engine out/in. Anyway, is there any chance of me shoving it back in or am I looking at replacing it?
Anyone had any joy fixing one. It’s not torn.

I think you need to change it with fresh cv grease. You don't want to chance dirt getting in there.

That was my thought as well...replace it, and add fresh CV grease.

There was a period in the early 80s where I had two Brazilian CV boots do this on my Superbeetle. I made the mistake of trying to clean and just reinsert using RTV Blue. That lasted about two weeks. There is no way to clean well enough with the graphite grease. I removed the CVs, and boots then replaced with German boots and they lasted for as long as I owned the SB.

I think it is highly unlikely that someone removing and installing your engine “fucked it…
