Hi from France
I'm in a rebuilt of a 003 automatic transmission for 1973 T2 and i have a question !
On the picture of the documentation, there is no friction disk between the steel plate, but when i open it, there is a friction disk between them !!
Have you got an idea about that ? it's a 003 model NG !
Thank you !

The upper note explains that two steels are touching each other in the middle of the assembly pack. Never seen that but I only deal with 010 type VW auto transmission.
Some decision on VW's part ?? |

I have not had one apart but I would think that #12 lined plate is the friction disk.

the gently show 3 steel plates(11) and 3 lined plates(12) with the lined plates between the steel plates,
10-11-12-11-12-11-12-13-
don’t know if it makes any difference but in my bentley that picture is tagged as figure 10-13 where yours is figure 10-14
the bently is for transmissions for 1973 to 1975 .says the 1976 and up are different ,but the final drive is the same,no info give for the later transmissions other then to say they are basically the same as a rabbit trans. _________________ https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=620186
