"Magnum Force" (1973) is the 2nd "Dirty Harry" movie starring Clint Eastwood as San Francisco police inspector Harry Callahan. An orange/possibly Paprika Ghia Cabrio parked in background. Callahan is getting into his Ford LTD cruiser, with Lt. Briggs (Hal Holbrook) as passenger. As they start off and turn right at the very next street, they pass another Ghia Cabrio- a white one, per another of my gallery photos. |
I watched Dirty Harry, Magnum Force and the Enforcer this weekend. Here is the white 58-59 convertible. Sorry for the crappy pic!

Honky tonk freeway (1981):
Ghia Coupe with bullet-style (Talbot?) fender mirrors, German movie "Der Moerder sitzt in Wembly Stadion" (the murderer is sitting in Wembley stadium), 1970. The "round" car at right is a Citroen 2CV.
"Stingray" (1978):

Two-tone Coupe, German movie "Yesterday Girl" (1966).
Red Cabrio northbound on Manhattan's 12th Avenue next to the Hudson River, movie "Alice's Restaurant" (1969). This is the southern extension of the West Side Highway. The red Splittie bus in the southbound lane is being driven by main character played by Arlo Guthrie. The tall apartment buildings in left background are on the western side of the Hudson River in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
Movie "Guess who's been sleeping in my bed" (1973). |

What!??? That sucks.
I taped it so I'll just fast forward to the wreck. And if they don't get a new Ghia I will boycott the show. |

The one on The Irrational looks just like mine. I can't believe they crashed it in the first episode. Surely he will get it back. It was displayed so prominently in Episode 1. It's like his trademark. A very cool trademark. Can't wait to get mine on the road soon. |

I wanted to see Jessie Martin get out of it, but he was already out of it. Hasn't shown or mentioned since. _________________ '72 Karmann Ghia Coupe (the Boss's) |

Another Ghia sighting in the Clint Eastwood movie "The Enforcer" (1976), ahead of the police undercover car being driven by Inspector Harry Callahan in San Francisco, California.
Green '70 or '71 Coupe behind the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am driven by actress Joan Collins, movie "Zero to Sixty" (1980).
Blurry yellow Ghia Cabrio in background, movie "Thank God its Friday" (1978). |

"Black Samson" (1974), with bonus Squareback, Fastback; and early bay window Type 2.
In "The Comic" (1969) there's a customized Ghia in background, behind main characters Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney. Appears to have a body-colored Targa bar.
Red Ghia Coupe parked, same movie. |

Late '60's Ghia Coupe, movie "Boogie nights" (1997) with actor Ricky Jay in center.
Two-toned Ghia Coupe driving in German movie "Noch nach Jahr und Tag" (1961) translates "still per year and day".
Red Coupe passing by in foreground, "In Broad Daylight" (1971). |

^ Haha! I usually only skim through movies in YouTube on fast forward until there's a traffic or other car scene. If there's a VW or Porsche 356 I'll freeze the program and make a screen shot, then enhance/resize it in Photoshop.
Here are some more from other movies:
Light blue Ghia Coupe on Manhattan street, movie "Scarface" (1983).
Two-tone lowlight Ghia Coupe in right foreground, TV movie "Smash-up in Interstate 5" (1976), filmed in Southern California.
Ivory Karmann Ghia coupe parked in background, "Bullitt" (1968). San Francisco police detective Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen, in tan overcoat) has just parked his green Mustang Fastback and is in the small grocery store across the street from his apartment. |

Blue '70/'71 Ghia Coupe (~ Pastel Blue, a '70 only color) parked in background, movie "For Pete's sake" (1974). Main characters played by Michael Sarrazin and Barbra Streisand are on the motorcycle. Filmed in Brooklyn, New York.
Green '69 (separate headrests?) Ghia Coupe parked. Ms. Streisand is running between the Ghia and the BMW 2002.
Composite shot of green Ghia Coupe, likely the same as seen above, behind main character Michael Sarrazin who's driving a taxi.
Green Ghia Coupe, likely once again the one seen in above photos, parked on traffic street. |

A Ghia coupe gobbles up the whole scene as a main character's Rolls Royce heads up the street behind it in the 1975 film 'Shampoo', with Warren Beatty, Goldie Hawn & Julie Christie. I think this might've just been an inadvertent cameo rather than a prop car 'cause it doesn't show up anywhere else. It's period-correct for the film (which is set in 1968) though. The front seats look like they could be '68-only high-backs and the car had the round reflectors on the rear quater.
