|
|
Hi Everyone,
I will like to install a VDO-350040 Oil Press Gauge, 80psi, 12 Volt with theVDO-360006 Pressure Sender, Dual Contact. Since the adaptor kit is No Longer Available, Does any one have a suggestion for installation ??
Maybe an alternative kit or some kind of alteration to the engine tin ??
Thanks,

What exactly needs adapted to what? If you need just a tee fitting so you can sense pressure and still have your factory oil pressure warning light, I got mine at Auto Zone off the shelf. |

I just want to adapt the VDO dual sender to the engine case, aparently the only remedy is to install a preassure hose from the engine case to the dual sender. _________________ 1965 Karmann Ghia (Sold)

You might want to read this post for some information on htis subject. I am in the same boat as my 12" extension needs to be replaced due to the fact that it is leaking after a "thermal problem" in the area. |
Randy,
Do you think that the Kit that CIP1 (VDO-150-752 - VDO OIL PRESSURE SENDER ADAPTER KIT M10 X 1 - TYPE 4 ENGINES)
sells will do the job ? I read the linked discussion and Artwell doesn't recommended !!! _________________ 1965 Karmann Ghia (Sold)

Welll I am going to pass on it from CIP1 and just have a hose made at NAPA for less than $20. My extension hose is probably 10 years old and actually fits so I will use those fittings if required.
I think the extension is really worthwhile though for a pretty good install though.
Anyway, that is what I am going to do after the holidays. |

I guess I'm not familiar with that product. ...Having trouble visualizing it. Mine is a mechanical gauge and just has a compression fitting that adapts to 1/8" nominal brass tee which has the oil pressure light switch screwed into the side of the tee, and all that then screws into the oil pressure light switch hole in the side of the crankcase. |

Mine in my type 4 engine, scres into the block and then runs to the firewall/gas tank shield where it mounts and then has a VDO sender that runs both the electrical gauge and the idiot light. Just easier to run it that way. |

The VDO adapter is not M10x1 as labelled. The original one piece hose was but this newer version is 1/8-NPT at both ends and will damage the threads on your case. Getting a hose made up is the best idea because it gives you 100% control over sender mounting.
Some people have reported success using an extension hose for a grease gun but everyone I've seen is 1/8-NPT with two male ends.
Autometer sells a M10x1 to 1/8-NPT adapter #2265. The descriptions are often backwards but they've assured me that the male end is M10x1 (it wouldn't make sense to adapt NPT to most foreign cars anyway). _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN
