|
|
Ok so this is my first Vanagon. It started its life as a 1990 Carat. Now I dont know what to call it so I call it a Mulitivan. My wife and I flew down one weekend in July to Riverside CA and bought this van. We had a fun but quick trip home to Vancouver Washington. Stopped at gowesty for some parts(I suggest you just order online since thats what you so there anyway lol). Since then its been alot of fun learing about Vanagons and fixing this one up. I have made some great friends so far because of it. Btw thanks to all who contribute to this forum as it was a amazing resource and gave me some great laughs along the way. Also Thanks to Justin Hall at Streamline Audio in Vancouver WA for all his amazing custom work. I never thought Id like a vehicle so much. Anyway here is Stormy Van as my kids call it along with its transformations...
Day 1
It was crazy driving it home on crappy California roads...I need 16's
Upgraded wheels and Tires....The first try anyway
Ok Fiberglass trim isnt for me...Welded up the holes and smoothed them out. Almost Burnt my Dam Beard off..Just joking Gingers are Fire proof! HAHA!
Put in a sweet Hamock for my boy made by Sammy at SammySoulShop. Sammy is great to deal with btw Also did smoked lenses and a full LED kit inside and out.
Got some Line-X Sprayed on her skirts. Its a game changer..
Next me and the boys put on some Rocky Mouantain Bumpers and ladder. These things are Rad. Also the crew over at RMW are awesome
I like cold beer...so needed this. Also put in new dual batterys and a 1100 watt inverter and a bitchin stereo thanks to my friend Justin Hall at Streamline Audio.
I wanted roundy's so Justin and I put some new lenses and HID's in for total awesomeness. Every time I turn them on I giggle at how bright they are haha.
So my 3 year old told me Stormy Van was to small after we went to mogg fest which is amazing btw and saw all the Syncros. So time for a lift and some bigger tires because I cant have a 3 year old dissing my van lol. Put on some blistens and GW 1.5 springs.
Flash Gordon Approves.. But he says my tires are to small...sigh
Its John Charlton(Canadian Hightops) http://northamericanhightops.com and Justin Hall at Streamline Audio as we unload my Adventurewagen top!
Thanks again John for bringing it down from the north pole!
Ok Flash big tires it is.. 215/70/16 Geolander a/t s and Voxx wheels
So next is the Adventurewagen top...what so were going to cut off my roof wtf...Btw All custom work was done by my friend Justin Hall of Streamline Audio. He is a Vanagon Guru.
All wired for my 158 watt Solar panel and Lights and Fan-Tastic Fan. Also glassed in extra supports for everything. All solar equipment I got from Miles at Light Harvest Solar in P town.
Next the giant tin foil hat to save my family from mind control.. or also known as insulation haha!
Sandwich it all together= Awesome!
Well here is my Stormy Van. She is Awesome. Next up is a propex and some limited slip. We still have some trim work inside the top to do and build a bunk. I will add more pictures then. Hope to see ya on the road

GREAT POST!!! I said it once and I'll say it again, That's badass! Please don't be stingy with the pictures of the interior (esp. as you build it). Don't wear Justin out, I'm going to need him for the Shenanagon this year! Your Vanagon is one of the nicest Vanagons I've seen inside and out, Keep up the good work . |

Very nice! Those upgrades all look like they were expertly carried out. The AW top looks amazing.

Thanks for all your nice comments
As per the question the wheels are a great fit(Voxx Mg3 16X7 5-112 20SML). Just need to get some front wheel posts that screw right in with some locktight from Chris at T3. No spacers needed and even the caps fit right. Forget the size studs but just tell him what your doing and he will hook ya up.

Very nice. After installing my new Vanistan motor mid month, I am going to be paying Justin a visit as well to fine tune some of the items on my wish list. I like your style, you do not dilly dally around like me Hoping to see this van at one of our PDX Westravaganza's.
Best,

Looks good. Please post some interior pics, I'm really curious with the room available when installed onto a tin top.

I was actually just looking at those voxx rims yesterday as well as the momo storm pros on the discount tire site. I couldn't come up with any weight ratings for the momo storms so I was looking at these voxx wheels.
I kind of assumed the et38 offset would be the way to go. It's kinda hard to see in your pictures, but how far out do the rims stick with the et20? Also were the studs just for the front, or did you have to do the rear as well? |

Answers to Q's
So DAV!D The wheels fit great without any sliding door rub and ride great. Also all I changed is the front studs that just screw right in.. with a dab of lock tight...easy peasy..no other mods needed..hit up Chris at T3
Dont worry ill get interior picks up soon Even if they the not finished version.
Also I hope to meet up with the P-Town crowd in the near future. I love to see other peoples Vanagons as everyone is awesome!
More to come soon...
Cheers Ryan |
