This looks like it was a bus that was converted to a truck?

Can anybody tell me what this vehicle is? it looks pretty cool and I would like to get one someday.

Are these super expensive like the 23 window bus I will never be able to buy Smile

It's a home built. VW did build pick up trucks but that is definitely not one of them.
I don't think you could pay me to buy that thing. Most often, their "creators" demand unrealistic money for a vehicle that has a questionable history, no real substaintitive support for the body which is heavily modified from its original design, and they feel that because they vehicle is "one of a kind" that they should be compensated for their time in creating (or destroying) a car that was worth more before they touched it.
You would do better to find a real single cab, which can be had for significantly less than a 23 window.

Didn't somebody die in that Modified bus truck when it was still a bus? Thought I remembered reading that last year.

it was a low mileage bus. kid died in it in a roll over(or something to that effect) when the bus was almost new... parents kept it forever. old pratt and whitney guy bought it and made it a truck. it was very well done...

the old guy may have kicked by now and I think it was last spotted in new york

I wouldn't totally discount it being some kind of factory variant as VW built a large variety of alternative Transporters over the years. Those grill probably aren't VW though.

Most days, I would almost take your bus knowledge as gospel. But there's no way this thing is a VW coach built. The body lines are mismatched, that hatch screams wrong, and the belt line is bumped out almost as if they just cut down a slider track cover. Not to mention (and j can't tell if it is just a bad angle) but it looks like it still has scoops. VW wouldn't leave non functional fixtures in place. Those deck lid grilles probably hurt it, more than they help it.

I really want that plate though...

He is just messing around. As previously posted the truck was built out of a bus. There was a thread about it. But I cannot locate it at this time.

To shed a little light in this for you, the m-code is like your bus' DNA. It is a series of numbers that were translated from a build sheet onto a metal tag that now lives on our buses. These plates and numbers itemize the features of an individual bus. Such as the seating configuration, windows, right hand or left hand drive, windscreen and mirror options, engine specifications, and all the details that make the bus.

We often tease when we see PO (previous owner) hacks that they are "rare options" but it's really just internet sarcasm.

Like I said, I wouldn't be hot for this particular bus. There are plenty out there that haven't been back-yard engineered

Welcome to the site.

Taste - Cat Turds for example - My dog has a thing for them, I do not. Funny part is we both like green beans Laughing

Yeah thats not a true VW make, someone did that and it shouldn't cost anywhere near what a 23 window does - unless as stated, the owner really thinks highly of cat turds. Wink

Yeah... Porsche 356 deck grilles, as well as its "1500" insignia.

OTOH maybe this was the inspiration for the Chevy 'Avalanche' p.u. Laughing Could be useful for tying animals or unruly kids 'out back' on the load deck, while still maintaining visual contact. Sure.
