Case cam follower (lifter) hole clearancing tool. Cuts case cam follower hole bosses for adequate cam to cam follower clearance. (1961 VW service bulletin suggests 0.040" minimum clearances). VW mechanics and enthusiasts alike should have one. As stated in that VW factory bulletin; the cam to cam follower boss clearance is often not enough even if you are using a new stock VW cam with the factory stock cam followers. A high lift cam will nearly always require additional clearance at the cam follower bosses. This tool is designed and recommended to be used in a drill press, but is rugged enough to use with a high quality 1/2" drill motor and a skilled operator. High speed tool steel cutter is ground with special angles to cut the boss and contour radius the inside top edge at the same time. Far more rugged than the factory tool was.
