You can just bolt it on, but I always recommend having the crank, pulley, fly wheel balanced together, a balanced motor runs smother and when you get to the higher RPM you will fill the difference, also this type of pulley keeps the end of the crank from wobbling around and beating on your bearings, if you can just imagine your crank acting like a whip...that's what you don't want
