Dual Circuit Pre 1967 Brake Master Cylinder Kit Price: $150
|
This kit converts your pre 1967 Van to a safer dual circuit brake system. With this kit if you happen to blow a brake hose or brake cylinder in the front or rear brake circuit you still will have the other circuit to stop with. As with early single circuit brakes if you blow a brake hose or brake cylinder on the Van you will only have your parking brake but no foot brake. DOT required this in after 1966 for safety reasons.
This kit is easy to install. First you remove your old master cylinder. Then you straiten the 2 metal brake lines going to the front brakes and install and tighten them into the tee. Install the brake fluid reservoir into the brake master cylinder with the filler toward the end of the master cylinder that mounts to the frame. Mount the new brake master cylinder w/reservoir, install the short brake line in the tee and carefully bend and fit the line as shown to the brake master cylinder. Then bend and fit the brake line to the rear brakes as shown. Check and make sure that none of the lines are rubbing against each other, the body or cable. Then tighten the lines, install brake light switches, adjust the brake master cylinder push rod for correct free play, fill the reservoir and bleed the brakes.
Now you can drive knowing that if you have some kind of hydraulic brake failure you won’t lose all of your brakes.
This kit includes a 1967 brake master cylinder and reservoir, a short brake line and brass tee.
$150 plus shipping. If you would like 2 new European brake light switches add $35.
