Bay window VPC dealer installed air for 1972-79 Price: $500
|
This was a VPC dealer installed air conditioner. overhead style, that I actually bought NEW in a box in about 1984 from my local dealer. I installed it in my 1978 bus. It worked pretty well, took R-12 refrigerant.
I parted out the car in the 90's due to rust.
What I have is certainly much less than perfect there are cracks in the mounting areas of the front near the door rails. The under side condensors are very corroded and the condensor fans are locked up. I'd guess the hoses might not be too good, considering they are 40 years old and laying around in storage. The parts are almost 100% complete, tho. I'll have to hunt a few down. Pretty sure the pulley and compressor brackets are still on the motor. This mounted the compressor underneath with the pulley BEHIND the cooling fan. so changing a belt meant taking off the fan.
I was always hoping to find another nice bay window and installing it. I might have put on a different rotary compressor which does not take so much power.
A challenging install even the first time, but it sure makes travelling nice in the summer.
Best would be you pick it up at my house. I could box it, but shipping will be expensive. It's probably 150-200lb and big.
