1968 VW camper runs great! Price: $8000
|
1968 type 2 camper. I got it in November of 2000 and have kept it under cover pretty much the whole time. I am the third owner, the second owner never drove it and rented it out as a bedroom.
Runs great. Engine sounds awesome, is responsive, and has great compression.
Original drum brakes. It stops but pulls to the right. If I were to keep it, I'd do the disc brake conversion. And if I do that, I will add $5K to the price.
Good tires. Steering box, starter, and pop top canvas replaced 15 years ago. No holes or tears in the canvas, but the rear screen is tattered, and the side screens are okay but not perfect.
The single sleeper cot needs mending. The front cot is in excellent shape. I still have a few of the original curtains. Front seats need work.
Original paint with a few small patches and touch ups. No damage or accident history. There are a few small dents here and there, but the body and chassis are in excellent shape for a 55 year old bus.
I've been driving it to and from work these past few months, 12-mile round trip. Prior to that, it sat for 9 years undercover, uninsured, and unregistered. But I would hand turn the crank every few months to keep the engine lubed up, and would set it up outside in the summer just for fun. I got it insured and registered in August 2023 and it is so much fun to drive!
I am ready to let it go. It is ready for the hobbyist who wants to take it to the next level. A $5k to $7k makeover and this baby will easily fetch $30k+
Make me an offer! I have lots more pictures.
