1984 Vanagon Westfalia Price: 24000

We are very sad to be selling our 1984 (1983.5, really) Westy, but it’s time for another family to create new adventures with her. This van has lived its whole life in California (first in Sacramento, then LA), there is no rust at all.
She has taken us up to British Columbia, and down to the Baja peninsula, and everywhere in between. The original Assuan Brown paint has never looked better; it has a beautiful patina that shows this van has been used for its intended purpose: getting out there and living life. Note the stickers are only on the glass, so can be removed easily, but why not add yours to the collection?
Over the last 10 years we have upgraded, maintained, improved, overhauled, and replaced many, many elements of this vehicle. I have a 3” thick bundle of maintenance records going back to the purchase date as well as a transcribed version in a Google spreadsheet that’s much easier to read and search through.

Highlights:
- GW Big Brake kit (front)
- GW 15” wheels with General AT Grabber 205/75/15 (about 5-6k on them)
- 1” lifted springs, Bilstein shocks all around
- VanCafe aluminum coolant expansion tank
- VanCafe aluminum fuel expansion tanks (L&R)
- The paint is original and has a beautiful patina, but it’s mostly oxidation – can be buffed with compound to a glorious shine.
- Fuel system overhauled July 2023 (reseal tank, new hoses, fuel rail, etc etc), incl Blazecut under engine cover
- Front seats from 86+ w/armrests, added rear-facing jump-seat
- Welded-in 2” receiver (never used for towing, only for a bike rack)
- Original TransAwn 2000 awning in good condition
- Ceramic 5% tinted windows
- Original curtains/covers all around in good shape, incl snap-in bug screen for rear hatch
- Aux battery under driver’s seat (Odyssey ODS-AGM30L), GW kit, extra DC port on seat base

Lowlights:
- Rear bumper dented a bit and side caps missing, like every other Vanagon w/out RMW bumper upgrade.
- The tent is functional, but could use a replacement, as there’s some rips.
- Couple of stone chips in the windshield, but they’ve been there for years and don’t seem to be an issue.
- Headliner panels are peeling a bit; an easy project that improves the interior instantly.
This is an excellent, unmolested time-capsule from 1984 with original paint that has been loved and maintained. Happy to provide more photos, videos, and send a link to the service record spreadsheet.
