1953 RHD BARNDOOR KOMBI. "The Loaf"   Price: OIRO £PENDING
Reluctantly up for sale due to me having an eye on a potential other project, only for sale while this other opportunity is still available.

Nicknamed and doodled "THE LOAF" by Peter Jones 'Mr Cartooniez'

I have owned this since 2018, a former Hayburner featured bus, search:-

www.hayburner.co.uk/dare-to-be-different-phils-barndoor-kombi/

Colour change to matt brown/ brown by Irv's Resto's, fuchs copies painted and detailed by Irv aswell.

Drives fantastic for an old bus and has no problem keeping at motorway speeds, been all over in this bus and is so reliable.

Original RHD newly delivered to Indonesia in 1953.
Has had various stages of resto formerly finished by Phil Jones.
Bus is solid overall and underneath.

Narrowed and lowered rebuilt front beam with CSP disc brakes.

Raised steering box and tubbed arches.

Rebuilt steering box.

AO gearbox conversion, straight rear axle.

Type 3 rear brakes.

Brake servo. (Currently not connected to the manifold)

Refreshed 1600 AD twin port engine with single carb.

Eberspacher diesel night heater fitted in tool chest with go-kart fuel tank, has a Y split with bowden cable so heat can be directed into front or rear or split.

Home built custom wooden camping interior based on an early Westfalia style. Simple and practical built by the former owner Phil Jones who was a joiner.

Seats 8 people, 3 on the front bench, 2 rear facing and 3 forward facing on the rear bench, plenty of storage under the rear seats.

Has leisure battery and split charge relay fitted with charging points, eberspacher runs off this so no discharging the main battery.

I have done a few weddings in it, my daughters being one and friends aswell, always draws attention and waves wherever I go.

I would say the restoration was carried out to a good standard.
There are items that need addressing body wise but not urgently and you can jump in and drive anywhere as mechanically it is pretty spot on.

Ideally I would expect people to come and view it, please no time wasters, I will answer any questions or supply photos to potential buyers who have the funds available.

Many thanks,
Glen.
