1969 VW KGhia Convertible (early softback window)   Price: $28,500
Update: WOW! Not one phone call/no viewings! So, we have lowered the original asking price by $10,000 to expedite the sale of our beautiful K-Ghia Convertible. Somebody is going to get a great car for a song! $28,500 - Thanks!
Spectacular, all-stock, original condition inside and out! Same elderly owners from 1973-2022 (49 years)! I have owned it the past 2 years. This K-Ghia received an open checkbook, cosmetic and mechanical restoration between 2011-2013 totaling $40,000 w/receipts. It has always been garaged since completion and driven less than 2,000 miles in the past decade. Glass Cars and Fabrication in Dallas, TX, did all the work, and it is easy to see why after 54 years in business, they are still the “go-to guys” for superior restorations and fabrication work in the area! It still looks fresh – a true testament to the quality of their work. The body and paint are still virtually flawless, with no noticeable nicks, chips, scratches, or dings. It has no known existing rust or rust bubbles. The nose is perfect (never hit), all door and trunk lid gaps are excellent, and all body panels are laser-straight. The convertible top is like new, even though it was replaced 12 years ago at the time of restoration.

Mechanically, it runs, drives, and shifts beautifully even when cold and can be driven anywhere with confidence. The brand new, all-stock 1600 cc replacement engine has less than 2,000 miles on it and runs superbly. The bumpers are original and have never been re-chromed, so while they are in good condition for being 55 years old, they definitely are not equal to the show quality of the rest of the car. Personally, if I were keeping my VW I would do nothing more to improve upon it – I would simply continue to drive it and enjoy it on sunny weekends! However, there are a handful of things that could be addressed by the new owner if so desired… 1) The clock does not work; 2) In reverse gear, when backing up, the transmission whines; 3) The gas cap lid opener is a little finicky; 4) The steering has a little bit of play in it (adjustment?); 5) The previous long-time owners had the floor pans repaired several years before the restoration and while they are certainly very solid, they were not done to factory specs (so, if you get down on your hands and knees and look underneath the car, you can tell they’ve been repaired – if that matters to you).

My 1969 K-Ghia convertible, in my humble opinion, is one of the nicest looking examples around. Drive it to Cars and Coffee or a car show – win a trophy and drive it home! It is truly stunning, and you certainly do not see many that have had so much money lavished upon them for a restoration! This Ghia was loved like a family member for nearly half a century by a local couple. It is a very special car! My wife and I were recently blessed with our 4th (and final) child (ages 7, 3, 1.5, and a 2023 New Year's Eve baby) and simply do not have time to enjoy it as we should. It's been a fun couple of years, but between family responsibilities and a thriving real estate business, it doesn’t make much sense to let it just sit in our garage and gather dust.

We hope to pass this lovely K-Ghia convertible on to a new caretaker who will cherish it as much as the previous long-time owners - and we have. I am asking less than the restoration costs alone. Serious buyers with the means to provide a good home for this wonderful car, please call me at 916-220-2460. The asking price is $28,500. It is located at my house in Colleyville, TX, which is about 30 minutes west of Dallas. Thank you!
