Hello friends
Here we have a 1984 Volkswagen Caribe GT. You might notice this would have been called VW Rabbit in the US.
You might also notice this is a GT and not a GTI. The Mexican car did not have fuel injection hence it is just a GT.
This car came out in March of 1984 and was sold until the 1987 model year.
Under the hood is 1.8L 85 horsepower 4 cylinder engine with a 2 barrel carburetor.
One of the parts that fails on the US Rabbit GTI is the fuel injection system. You don't have that problem on this car.
The car is supposed to have the European front bumper with the turn signals in them. The front bumper on this one appears to be damaged. I am sure we can find one before delivery.
The Mexican Caribe GT's came from the factory with Recaro bucket seats. The US cars never equipped the Rabbit GTI's with them.
The Recaros in this car have been reupholstered. From the factory the seats would have said CARIBE GT where these say RECARO, but the pattern is the same.
This car is equipped to run forever like the US Rabbit GTI should have been. I will admit the fuel injection puts out less emissions, but it can be a nightmare to get it working.
This is not a car that has been off the road, it is a daily driver.
The car has a stereo system along with power windows and locks.
Most of these go for much more money, however because it needs a few things you can have it for this price.
Here is the break down on the cost of the vehicle. The vehicle itself will be $7,700 dollars. Transport from where it is to the Nogales Arizona border $950 dollars for a total of $8,650. This price includes transport from Central Mexico to the border at Nogales. We are paying almost $6.00 US per gallon of gasoline or diesel.
Lately the exchange rate has been all over the place so please ask for an up to date price.
If you have any questions about the importation process, I will be happy to answer them.
* We Can Now Offer US Delivery * - What this means is we can cross the car and you as the buyer would need to pick it up in Nogales Arizona or arrange transport to your location.
I know the thought of buying from Mexico makes people nervous.
I can provide references from my previous clients if necessary.
