1975 Le Grande Project Sunroof Super Beetle Price: 4000
|
1975 sunroof Le Grande, still fuel injected. Has TopLine adjustable front struts and front disc brakes. The bronze powder coated Lemmerz wheels are beautiful, but it needs new tires. Sunroof is in place but *nothing* is connected. I have most of the parts to get it operational, in the trunk. Great project for an experienced enthusiast or a newbie looking for a unique project. You can see a video of it running when I first got it here:

You can read about how it was when I bought it here, all fired up for the resto:

Full disclosure, I bought this as a project with the intention of fully restoring it to its original color and go thru and clean up the motor, including replacing the main seal and clutch. End play is fine when checking it by hand by pushing/pulling on the crankshaft pulley. But life simply got in the way of my ambitions. The cliche "It ran" when I parked it 2 years ago is literally true in this case, I drove it around town quite a bit that summer. I parked it to work on restoring my '74 Super and daily-drove my '73 Super. IT DOES START but will not idle. The injectors should be pulled and cleaned and I'm guessing the gas tank pulled and cleaned after sitting for 2 years. Here's a video of it starting up recently:

There is surface rust around various parts as you can see in the pictures. Floors are solid. Rockers too but need some surface rust clean up and possibly some small patches. I would've had to dig into them to really tell and that's not in the cards at this time. I had picked up some donor metal to use to repair the c-pillar foam rust damage, I will include those bits w/the car. Also included is a spare FI muffler. Roof rack is *NOT* included in the sale. The car has a clean VA title. Used, sold-as-is, no warranties or guarantees.
