This stunning 1957 LHD VW Beetle is a beautifully preserved piece of history, has to be one of the best available. Originally a US-spec model, it was brought to the UK by Kirk Elliot, renowned for importing exceptional Volkswagens. It was then acquired and restored by Luke Theochari and his son Louis, of the legendary Terry's Beetle Services.
The restoration process involved taking the car back to bare metal, with a focus on preserving its originality wherever possible. Much of the interior and exterior were deemed in good enough condition to reuse. The original interior paint was retained, while the exterior was skillfully blended to match, ensuring the car maintains its authentic charm.
The floor pan and the underside of the wings have been treated with clear wax to preserve the original bodywork. Authentic details such as stove-enameled number plates, Firestone whitewall tyres on stock wheels, VW-logo mudflaps, and a rare Happich cheese-grater tailpipe trim enhance its vintage appeal. Additional period accessories include a passenger-side mirror, single sun visor, rear oval window Venetian blind, front fog lamps, and mint-condition six-volt headlamps.
Under the hood, you'll find the original 30-horsepower engine, complete with matching numbers for both the engine and gearbox—an exceptional rarity that adds to the car's authenticity. Built to be driven, this Beetle feels solid and reliable, making it a capable daily driver while also being a stunning head-turner.
