1971 Volkswagen Sportsmobile Camper Bus Price: $2000
|
If you’ve been waiting for the right classic VW project to sink your teeth into, here it is.
What It Is:
1971 Volkswagen Sportsmobile Camper Bus – This bus started life as a second-generation bay window passenger van and was upgraded by Sportsmobile in Andrews, Indiana. The stickers on this bus speak of a well traveled history. It made its way as far north as Quebec, had an owner that worked for the Dept. of Justice and trained at the Federal Law Enforcement training Center, and has been to Virginia, Lake Arrowhead in Myrtle Beach, SC, and Seven Springs in Champion, PA. How did she end up in Louisiana? I don't know, but with some TLC, she can hit the open road again.
Pop-top camper setup – the bones of a rolling cabin are all here
I have a clean Louisiana title in hand.
What It Needs:
This bus has survived five decades, but it’s ready for a revival. Expect some mechanical work, body work, and general freshening up.
It’s not a "hop in and road trip tomorrow" rig — it’s a bring-your-tools, weekend-garage, slow-and-steady restoration project.
This project does not come with an engine. It has a transmission, but it is inside the cab.
Perfect for someone who wants to customize it into a dream camper, or restore it to original glory.
Why It’s Worth It:
Vintage VW buses only get more collectible.
Sportsmobile conversions are a little rarer than your average Westy.
You’ll end up with a classic camper that’s 100% yours, built by your own hands.
Title ready to transfer
This isn’t just a sale — it’s a project invitation. If you’ve got the vision, the tools, and the patience, this bus will reward you with countless memories on the road. If you'd like more pics or have questions, feel free to text 318-266-7850.
