I'm selling off the carcass of a failed restoration project: a 1973 T2 VW Westfalia Camper (automatic). No Title
It was running when I originally bought it, though it had some electrical issues. I took it to a shop in Jasper, GA (Vintage VW Part) to have it looked at. They pulled the engine, but when they reinstalled it, they did it incorrectly—most of the mounting hardware was missing.
The bus broke down just a couple miles from their garage, with the engine hanging on mostly by the transmission shaft. That resulted in a bent tranny shaft and a cracked flexplate. I eventually sourced replacements for those parts, but made the mistake of taking the bus apart myself...
I haven’t had the space to work on it in years, after my brother’s family moved in during the pandemic.
The chassis has its fair share of dents, rust holes, LOT of Bondo, and fiberglass patches. Most of the hardware is either rusted out or missing altogether. The wiring is mostly gone.
