1965 SO42 Walkthrough - lovingly restored and upgraded.
I built this bus with the intention of never selling it. The vision was to make a split window camper that you could drive across the country, present at a show, and be comfortable getting to remote campsites. I've driven it tens of thousands of miles and it has been super reliable. It more than keeps up with traffic and looks amazing...
Originally a tourist delivery to Gibraltar. Special ordered in Blue White over Sea Blue - a 1965-only color combination. I found it in Colorado and spent 3 years restoring it at Kustom Coach Werks in Grand Junction.
M-Coded Options:
- Tourist Delivery
- Blue White/Sea Blue
- Eberspacher BN4 gas heater (removed)
- Split front seats (walk-through)
- 12-Volt
Full rotisserie restoration completed in 2020.
The details:
- 2110cc engine with Redline 44 Weber IDF carburetors
- Full-flow oil cooling system with aux oil cooler and fan
- Vintage Speed exhaust
- High flow heater boxes (yes, it has heat!)
- Transaxle rebuilt with 3.44 and .89 ring and pinion - cruises 65mph at 3k rpm
- Rebuilt steering box
- Reduction boxes rebuilt with high end components
- Old Speed front disc brakes
- Custom lifted adjustable front beam, new tie rod ends, bushings, etc.
- Bilstein shocks all around
- Optima red top battery
- BF Goodrich KO2 tires (215/75/15)
- Rebuilt steering box
- New wiring harness
- Front safari windows
- Restored jalousie windows
- All new window & door seals
- Clara front panels
- Restored original style interior (by Chato's Creations)
- Blazecut fire suppression
- Fully insulated and sound deadened
I'm not in a position where I need to sell, but I'm ready to take on another project and need to make room before that can happen.
