Split Speedo Pod Ignition cap and internals Price: $140 Shipped
|
Speedo pods missing the ignition switch cap are a dime a dozen, but finally a replacement part kit for them. Cap kit includes the cap, the 3 correct brass slotted head screws to secure it, wires for the indicator lights already soldered on (specify cloth or PVC wires), the correct brass bus bar soldered on, an NOS ignition switch internal brass contact plate and an NOS internal barrel and spring. This kit is $150 and includes shipping in the continental US. Other locales inquire about shipping credit.
I can supply these with either cloth covered wires or PVC wires. VW transitioned from cloth to PVC in 1951, but the date is indeterminate. I have seen 51 splits with both cloth and PVC in them (the same car!). You decide what you want. 1950 and earlier definitely cloth, '52 definitely PVC. Also note that although shown, I am not offering the NOS ignition locks and keys at this time.
Note: The bus bar is cut and drilled as original and can be peened under the switch terminal as original. It can also be cut short and soldered on to an existing piece of the original bus bar if it exists. Doing it this way makes installation of the ignition lock much easier.
Also note that this cap is a resin cast part and is not bakelite like the originals.
