1957 Porsche 356 A Price: 173500
|
This Porsche 356A T1 has been extensively rebuilt with an eye for quality. Below is an overview of the most important work and upgrades carried out on the car:
Engine:
The engine was enlarged to 1720cc in 2016 and has seen virtually no mileage since then. Although not a matching numbers example, high-quality parts have been used, including a new AA piston/cylinder kit, 912 heads with German valves, 912 rocker arms, and a new webcam camshaft. The engine is fitted with NOS Italian Weber 40mm carburetors with vintage speed stainless steel air filters and original Porsche throttle cable controls, finished in silver CAD plating. It is also equipped with a stainless steel 4-pipe Abarth exhaust, stainless steel heater ducts, a 12V alternator, and a new voltage regulator. The Fram oil filter housing has been fully restored in its original orange paint, and all engine tinwork has been powder-coated in satin black. The engine compartment is clad in Pre-A-pillar style. Compression ratio: 9.0:1. A technically advanced build, ready for use and show-worthy.
Gearbox & Chassis:
The gearbox has been completely overhauled with new bearings and synchronizer rings (not matching numbers). The axles are powder-coated, fitted with new German wheel bearings, one-piece axle boots, and all bushings have been replaced. Sachs shock absorbers and a slightly lowered rear axle provide a sporty driving position that matches the front end. The steering has also been renewed with a reconditioned ZF steering box, new tie rods, kingpins, stabilizer bushings, and steering coupling. The aluminum brake drums have been overhauled and meet factory specifications. The brake system has been completely renewed with new wheel brake cylinders, brake lines, brake shoes, master cylinder, and handbrake cables. Ready for reliable driving pleasure.
Interior:
The interior has been reupholstered in the car's original red color. Replica Speedster seats were upholstered by Autos International in California, in red with checkered inserts. The seats are mounted on metal tilt-slide frames (original wood) with stamped chrome rails. The rear seat and door panels were also done by Autos International. Red German boucle carpets are fitted throughout the car, including behind the seats. There is also a German headliner and sun visors. The door tops are powder-coated in the original red/burgundy color, matched to an original paint sample. The original steering column has been retained, and the steering wheel has been professionally restored, including a reproduction Porsche horn button with an emblem. The original ignition lock and restored square door handles complete the look. A beautifully finished interior with attention to originality and craftsmanship.
Exterior
The car is painted Aquamarine Metallic Blue, the original color in which this 356 was delivered in 1957. The paintwork and finishing touches were done by the Porsche-certified Cosmos Collision. The left door hinge plate was deliberately left in its original paint for reference; the rest of the car was accurately matched. It is equipped with European bumpers and correct low bumper guards. The car has an original Sigla windshield, European Hella headlights with period-correct markings, and new taillight housings with European lenses. All chrome work has been polished or triple-chromed by Alberta Plating. The fuel tank is date-coded and powder-coated in satin black. All rubber seals and window seals have been replaced. It is equipped with a correct, anodized replica hood spear and reproduction windshield wiper arms with matching blades. The wiper motor has been rebuilt and converted to 12V. The car stands on Vintage 190 aluminum wheels.
