1973 VW Squareback overlander.
This is a very solid rust-free original pan and body and when i say solid pan the battery box has no rust,, i applied por15 on the pan and front wheel wells. The driver's fender and front nose was hit when I got it but was minimal and didn't go past the spare tire area just sheet metal, but I replaced it all with donor steel. I was looking for matching yellow parts but can't seem to find any. It has a 1998 Subaru legacy EJ22 motor with a stock 4 speed transmission that is very tight and super quiet. stock Subaru fuel pump grafted into the VW gas tank is clean and easy to access incase anything needs serviced. Clutch is a 1700# pressure plate with stock disc. complete brake system has been totally replaced, Rear is lifted by 28mm torsion bars with Porsche 934 cvs and front is a 1974 VW thing beam cut and turned. Disc brake front and drum rear but I do have disc for the rear that goes with it. Wheels are 15" mobile wagon and tires are general grabbers. All rubber bushings under the car have been replaced including the torsion bar bushings.
Inside I have 2 corbeau reclining suspension seats mounted to the stock sliders so getting in and out of the back is a breeze. She has a 4-person rugged radio UHF and Bluetooth intercom system. All gauges work and dash has new LED lights. Scat shifter makes changing gears right where they are supposed to be. Up Top it has a sweet custom one off roof rack with 4 6" led lights, a brand-new spare tire and max Trax traction boards.
Radiator is a jeep Cherokee, and all coolant lines are hard piped where I could and ran inside the cab on the pass side of the tunnel with soft hose rated at 300psi. New windshield with all new rubber for all the windows but i have not installed them yet i was waiting until i took the glass out to put them in.
I Just took it on 2 trips in the last month one 2400 mile and one 1300 mile and i wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country tomorrow if asked.
