What is the turn around time? That depends on how much work you need and what the current backlog is. Please plan on 2-4 weeks. I work as fast as I can, but these things take time.
Each kit is test fit on an engine to make sure it fits properly before powdercoating.
many options available include:
- add a venturi ring to the fan shroud inlet to increase air volume. This is a reproduction of the factory ring used by VW on FI motors 75-79.
- add rebuilt thermostat flaps and horizontal linkage, vertical control rod, and bracket, THE THERMOSTAT IS EXTRA
- adds air vanes to the new SCAT cylinder tin (get the air flow VW intended!)
- add a powdercoated hoover bit to your kit
- add threaded inserts to any sheetmetal (great for coil, fuel filter, etc) don't use screw metal screws in your new fan shroud!
- add holes for breather vent holes in the firewall tin
- clearance small pulley tin for aftermarket oil pumps
- modify the fan shroud and oil cooler exhaust for the wider Type IV oil cooler
- add valve cover vents, either 1/2" steel tube, or AN6 or AN8 male fittings

It all starts as SCAT BRAND NEW engine sheetmetal. This kit fits 1600 based engines on bugs, manx, bajas & sandrails. Don't build your engine with old, rusty, grimy, dented sheetmetal! All sheetmetal is BRAND NEW and then blasted clean. YOU CHOOSE if you want it set up for heat or no heat.

I can also do your used parts. sheetmetal, coil & generator straps, brackets, dip stick, just about any metal part you can think of can be powdercoated.
Powdercoat is a very tough finish made by spraying a fine coat of plastic powder onto the part & then baking the part until the plastic melts & forms a continuous surface. This is many times tougher than conventional paint. It is much more resistant to stone chips, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. If you have ever painted an engine, you know how easy it is to mess up the finish. Also, this finish lasts for years, unlike typical off shore?chrome plating that starts to rust in a few months.
