Hey,

So I've got my bumper repainted. I bought some splash pans off the Samba and then I bought the install kit.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

But I'm confused on where the backing plates go. Does anyone have a sketch or pic, even my Bentley manual didn't seem to help.

Thanks,
Chris

They go on the inside of the corner.

The link works now.

The link above doesn't seem to work anymore.

I bought the splash pan install kit from WW and I can't figure out how in the world this "bracket" is supposed to go. Anyone have good pics of it?

I got that far, and it's actually installed already. I have these two small brackets from the WW kit left over. The are angled as if they go in the corner in between the splash pan and body.

Also, is there supposed to be a bit of weight on the corner body bolts? I had to pull the corners of the bumper up a bit to get the bolts started. I don't want to stress the holes in the body.

Edit.....Mink, if I read you correctly you mean it goes on the inside of the body, effectively strengthening the mounting area?

Yep, from the M8 bolt down to the smaller one at the very bottom of the corner. Kind of hard to explain, but pretty obvious if you look inside the corner.

Yes, you may have to push up on the bumper to get it to line up.

Does anyone know what the small, round seals that come in the WW splas pan kit are for? They look like the could fit in the smaller, bottom hole in the reinforcement bracket, but of course there is a bolt that goes there. I'm stumped.

This is funny, I was just searching for a topic on how the whole rear bumper goes together as I'm putting my new 67 DC back together and I find that it's a thread I started the last time I didn't know what I was doing!
