On the body where you mount the cargo doors it has a plate that the screw attaches to. It appears boxed in somehow so you have some plate movement for door adjustment. When I got the body work done I noticed that plates on one side were missing and we even cut small "windows" in an attempt to find the plat. No luck so we made plates but are there any recommendations on how I should go about installing them. Where to cut into the body, etc. Thanks, vwdon

I went through the same thing.. I cut a hole on the inside and held the backing plate in place while my buddy put the door on. It sucked. Ill see if I have any pictures to give you a better idea.

Find a way to support the plate otherwise the next time the door is taken off you'll have to go through the whole process over again. Don't ask me how I know... Sad n

if you are going through the trouble fix it right

the screw plate in the pillar is wider at the holes than between them and there is a metal retaining band supposed to be in this narrower section to keep it from falling yet allow movement

if you can't get the metal plate fixed, there's a simple solution someone posted before.

Get an extra nut, cut of the head and cut/grind in a little I-shape so you can bolt the headless bolt right in there.

So now the plate stays in place, while you bolt in the other normal bolt and aftwerwards you replace the headless bolt.

This prevents the plate from ever falling down, but sure enough it's just a help

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good source to purchase a nut-plate for the cargo doors? I don’t need the pillar portion, just the nut-plate. Thx...

Should be pretty easy to fabricate if you have some 3/16" steel lying around. Measure, cut, drill and tap.

Kinda was thinking that, but if there is a source I could acquire one... well, that would be even better. Thanks for the thought here j-pickens.
