Man I have searched high and low for info on this issue. HEATER CHANNEL replacement!
In order to replace the driver side heater channel you have to get the wiring harness out of the way to weld in the new channel ( and cut out the original).
I have been digging away at the "foam of death" in the sail panel but I can't get that wiring harness to budge. Can anyone offer advice or direct me to a post that sheds light on this issue.
Yesterday I poked away at that foam for 2 hours. I got a pile 'o foam but no satisfaction. _________________ I succeed because I fail. |

Id post this question in the later 1968 and up forum. this forum is for earlier Bugs,58 thru 67, which did not have the foam, so answers here might be lacking.

my 67 has the foam and I had no problem getting the harness out just give it a tug and make sure you disconnect all of the wires in the back first. _________________ Ruby red 1967 beetle sedan with a 2021cc

x2 'cause you have a '73
A couple of years ago I had "death foam" questions and research showed '66 as first year for foam.

From what I understand it didnt become death foam until the vents were added behind the rear quarter windows, leaks from the vents resulted in the death aspect of the foam. early cars with foam, but no vents do not suffer from the death foam problems like the later vented Bugs do.
For death foam you need two things, the foam and the leaky vent(s). Otherwise it is simply foam. _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information
