Well here sits the 56 Kombi that was pulled out of NY
I have sdecided to do my best to put it back on the road w help from a great friend Kyle Golding at goldingbuilt and help from some other friends that will be mentioned later I’m sure
This baby is rough but worth the effort and devotion to bring back
Stay tuned as I will do my best to post photos as we get moving forward on the build thx B.BERG

Whoa. That frame rail is crazy. How does one get that straight again without it being a sidewinder?

I dig it! I concour, it’s definitely worth the efforts! Its funny seeing them skylights in the roof, but deleted. I’d be hard tempted to make It a 19 window 😎 it’s gotta be rare

I hope you, or a close friend is a VERY competent metalworker, and not just a hobbyist because that bus needs an extensive amount of work..to the point where it may be more replacement metal than original.

best of luck.

Since a sunroof standard or kombi doesn't have the skylight reinforcements for the front 2 skylights it would be a 17 window. Wink

This is such a badass bus, It deserves a top notch restoration. It will be a ton of work, but take your time and do it right.

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but there is a website devoted to 11 window buses with factory sunroofs. Here is a link to that registry. He currently lists 48 buses but most are 1959 or newer.
