An unusual alternator wound up on my bench. While it fits an upright engine like a standard Bosch AL82N, it has a removable plate which holds a one-piece regulator and brush holder assembly. This means the regulator can be serviced without removing the alternator from the engine - perfect for an upright engine bus! Problem is, it has no identifying markings, other than "823" stamped in the case. I suspect it is Bosch (at least the regulator is...), and it uses standard 6202 and 6203 bearings. Anybody know anything about these?

It's a Bosch AL82 alternator with an internal regulator. _________________ Glenn

All of the AL82N 's I have seen have the regulator bolted into the alternator housing separate from the brush holder. On this, it's one piece. Are you sure it's an AL82N part number? Maybe a different suffix, or something? _________________ '71 panel, now with FI

There are different versions of the AL82... it's one of them. _________________ Glenn
