Well to everyone who ever checked out my only post on this forum, I finally finished the car and I’ll put up some pictures. I have a YouTube channel now called Smiths Garage and I talk about what I did to the car if you wanna check it out.
1960, mango green, 2276cc engine with dual Weber carbs (180hp approx), Rancho 4spd trans with freeway flyer 4th gear (can’t remember the ratio), disk brakes all around with 8” wide wheels on the back, 6” on the front.

I'd be smiling too if that was my bug!
Are the carbs 48IDA, or IDF? It's hard to tell from the dark engine compartment pic. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I am no fan of patina. It is ok if you cant afford a repaint, but nice shiny new paint with no rust is best in my taste. _________________ Give peace a chance. No American war with Russia! |

Car looks awesome! This pic is trippy, everything is backwards. It’s right hand drive and the engine is reversed with the alt on the left and the dizzy on the right. The car next to it, looks like a Malibu maybe, is backwards too.
Tell us more about the engine. What case, cam, heads, compression, carbs, exhaust, who’s crank and who built it? How did you come up with the HP number? I see a bunch of CB Performance stuff.
The VS shifter looks good!
Can imagine how much $$$ you sunk into this project. Looks amazing tho! _________________ __________

Lovely Mango colored Bug!!! BUT I hate the barn photo as it shows some apparently heavy piece of machinery teetering out the upper barn door, right above that lovely Bug. Dont let that machinery fall on your Bug!!!! Sight of that really bothers me. Take care! _________________ Give peace a chance. No American war with Russia! |

That's a bale elevator. It's probably more that 12 feet long, sticking back into the hay loft. That little part sticking out isn't going anywhere.
BEAUTIFUL car!!! |

Hello, been following your YouTube vids and have some advise for you for the front transmission mount.
I noticed your tail pipes sit low in relation to the pipe cut out on the body. As u discussed, there was an update to the frame horns and if you update the trans you need to modify the front trans mount. the easiest way is to weld on a new mount offered by WW. ill try and include the link.
transmission mount plate part# 111701173c.
hope this helps!! |
