Long time since last post. The airbag suspension was the worst decision I have ever made for a modification to a car.It needed 160 PSI both ends to get the suspension somewhere near a suitable height to drive it.It drove like there was no suspension at all.I put torsion bars back in the rear and set them for about a 2inch drop from running ride height.Worked a treat.need about 45-50 PSI now for good ride height and rides really nice.Scrapped the whole front beam with the air shockers. Was dangerous to drive.Any bump and it was all over the road.Fitted some castor shims but no different.Made another beam with adjusters and set the anchors 15mm towards a lowered position.Took 60mm out as well.17X7.5 inch wheels fit nice and it gives a fairly smooth ride.Used the castor shims again.Have bought a single 2500 LB air bag and will do another beam with a single bag on the top tube and an adjuster in the lower tube. Will use the VW torsion bars in both tubes. Will keep you posted.Have been driving it now for a couple of weeks with the new suspension and it's awesome. |
