As the rocker panels are wrong , I had to mold two new 50 model rockers..
The 50 model decklid is also specific to that year, the one included in the kit is a later one with round recess in the rain deflector...
The 50 model is flat with 2 ribs...
So I cut the wrong one and made a mold to design the right one.
Just fresh from the mold, it will need some cutting, sanding and adjusting to the hood frame...
Just a mock up to the grill and decklid...

The engine bay is to be build as there was nothing...
I build a frame that is bolted to the rear body and to the chassis, it will be later inserted to the body with fiberglass...
the sides are made of fiberglass and will be bound to the body
to avoid flat metal sheet, I stamped some shapes to the front and rear engine tin.
mock up before welding and fitting engine tin seals .

Still working, no holidays this year....
I choose a classic Mini wiper kit, as this stystem will allows to have opposite working blades :
one in this side, the other is fitted upside down
As there was no support to the rear body bumper, I needed to create a lip where the bumper will fit.
The engine compartment is also sealed and the exhaust is fitted , it will need angled exit tubing to avoid the bumper

Did you move the shifter rearward when you made the new tunnel? My Vintage Speedster had the shifter in the stock location and it was about 6 inches too far forward. |

Lovely, lovely build. I found it a while ago, but lost touch and boy have you been busy.
I love the fact that you've chosen a specific model and year as it makes building the car and specc'ing it so much easier, more expensive if you choose a certain year, but it just makes everything else a lot easier once you have direction.
I'm building mine on a '55 for the main reason is that it was a changeover year and I can have a bit more fun with picking the more desirable items that I like, but still being correct.
We've done, dash, headlight, door, rearseat, fuel tank and rear correction to get most of the way there, but I just KNOW that the rear wheel arches look off. We're busy with the last of the glass work and I've just started researching this now.
Keep up the good work, love following it. _________________ 1955 KCC Replica Speedster

I bought this german book about the restoration of the oldest PreA known, the chassis 5006, bought by the Prototyp Museum in Germany.
This car needed a lot of work !
A fake tank will fit over the beetle one, with the filler neck located thru the Porsche fuel cap, I will have to make a new 356 tank as this one doesn't look as a 1950 tank, but the size is right...
The wiper system is in place, it comes from a Mini (classic)

Nice progress, thanks for posting an update. |
Hi Everett
Thanks for your support, it's not easy everyday...so much wrong molding to be corrected ....it's a real pain....
But now building and assembling is more enjoyable...
As soon as the rear hood latch system is done, the engine can go to its place and be started, as the brakes ar done, it will be possible to drive in...in the garden _________________ 64 Traditional Cal-Look
