Great thread and great work... following this closely as my '55 3-Fold was originally black and I'm leaning keeping it that way (although yes.. I was thinking Strato Silver).

HAHA, Got some earlies to slam it with too??
I don't get the stratos craze, I guess it is a modern looking color or what?

Thats a mistake I've made twice already, and I'm prepared to make it plenty more times! I hope you'll keep us updated, because I'm dying to see some more progress! _________________ .

Damn, I really wish I could have done the paint on my 56! One of the previous owners did it, and besides a few fish eyes and primer sandpaper marks through the paint is pretty good, but I would have loved to have done it myself like you! Those panels look slick, are you doing single stage or is it cleared? _________________ .

Time to get this show back on the road. A lot has happened in my world the last year so I haven't gotten much done on the car front. Things might settle down a bit now so I'm gearing up to work on the 56 again.
The building you see in the background is new and I just finished building it. That was part of the delay, the other is that my daughter had twin boys and we've been helping a lot with that handful. Twins, WoW!
Today I moved the bug into a 1 car stall where the rest of the assembly will take place.

I'm looking forward to seeing more progress on this car Brian! I too am building a 56' Ragtop with an Okrasa engine...I only wish I was as far along as you are in these pictures. (I still have the early apron you sold me for my 55' tucked away...awaiting it's turn).
Keep up the great work! This thread gives me inspiration to finish my 56!! |

As a matter of fact there is some progress. I sent the motor off to be completed by master engine builder James Arredondo. And I have an original Abarth muffler in very good condition that's going on the engine.

I believe Brian sold the car. I bought the Porsche 2-pce cased Okrasa engine from him the day before California was locked down for Covid in March 2020. _________________ Dec 54 Ragtop Beetle
