When you pressed on the 3-4 hub with slider, you pressed it on too far. If you measure your endplay on 3rd gear, it won't be enough. VW says 3rd gear endplay needs to be .10-.25mm. _________________

I was always surprised how much abuse a stk swingaxle could take ,in the good old days we plain abused the hell out of those poor things in every form possible on the dirt and street and they still just kept going .
it was not until we started dropped the hammer at the track things broke .and it seamed to always be the ring and pinion as most common failure.
all the other mods in the world really did not make much difference .
when we started just slipped the hell out of the clutch before dumping it or made our own arm dampers failures dropped . _________________ B.C's fastest street legal vw , June 2006 Hot VW's feature car 9.81 sec at 145.26mph.
