I bought a '77 Westy this winter and it's running rough. The engine runs a fuel pump with its own computer. I know very little about cars.
The bus is runs with a lot of backfiring and when I last had it on the highway, it lost power. I changed out the spark plugs with no effect.
The computer is from CB Performance and I downloaded the software (2010) and the manual from their website. I bought a nine pin to USB cord from Amazon and I run my computer in compatibility mode for Windows XP.
I can load the Quick Tune software and it shows data from the computer.
The air-fuel ratio is showing 19 when idling which is really high.
There are two slider bars; Acceleration Enrichment and Cooler Enrichment (warm up).
After about 30 seconds, the screen blinks and all the meters go to zero.
My questions:
1: How would I lower the Air to Fuel ratio?
2: Is there a better solution here?
Thanks!

On my laptop is Windows 11, but I'm running it in compatibility mode as Windows XP as that's the latest version that will work with the Quick Tune software from 2010. |

I had to set up an XP computer to run some XP programs. The compatibility mode has never worked well for me. If your laptop has the ability to run a virtual machine you might be able to run it on a virtual XP machine. Most XP computers were 32-bit so sometimes newer OS at 64-bit don't always work with 32 bit software even though there is a 32-bit emulator. Some XP programs were even 16-bit.
I found this thread but I doubt is the links work. You might have to chase the software elsewhere - maybe https://www.aemelectronics.com/support/software_do...L6L-UTri0E
Net 4 is a requirement too
This is from Google AI
| Quote: |
.NET Framework 4 is not officially supported on Windows 11. While .NET Framework 4.8 is built into Windows 11, it's recommended to migrate to newer versions of .NET if possible. If you need to run applications specifically designed for .NET 4, you'll likely need to use Visual Studio 2019 or 2022 with the appropriate targeting packs.
Elaboration:
.NET Framework 4 End of Life:
Microsoft officially ended support for .NET Framework 4.0 on January 12, 2022. This means it no longer receives security updates, bug fixes, or general support.
.NET Framework 4.8 on Windows 11:
Windows 11 comes with .NET Framework 4.8 pre-installed. This version is backward-compatible with applications designed for earlier versions of the .NET Framework, including .NET 4.
Visual Studio 2019/2022 for .NET 4 Projects:
If you need to develop or work with applications specifically designed for .NET 4, you'll likely need Visual Studio 2019 or 2022. You may need to install the .NET Framework 4 Multi-Targeting Pack to allow targeting older versions.
Alternative Options:
If possible, it's highly recommended to migrate your applications to a newer version of .NET, such as .NET 6 or later. This ensures you're using supported versions and benefiting from the latest features and improvements. |

Thanks SGKent and MRoss. I'll look into running a virtual machine.
I think the filter is okay but I'll check it out tomorrow.
I appreciate your help! |

Are those carburetors in your picture? Is that an older pic before the efi? _________________ 1982 2.0L Aircooled Country Homes Camper |

They look like ITB's or throttle bodies. You can see the injectors a bit , into the manifolds. _________________ My '65 Bus~Subaru EJ20 Megasquirted Turbo conversion |

Please see my note about not knowing anything about cars.
I meant "fuel pump", not injector.
Yes, those are carburetors, I believe. But again, I don't know. |

Is the CB Black box the ECU for fuel or just ignition or both ?
I'm not sure. I believe my CB computer is earlier than the black box and I'm not sure if it's running just the fuel or ignition. |
