hey that is great
still does not show the thermostat or the funky linkage
and how does the air get from the fan shroud to the cylinder tins? there must be ductwork? _________________ Volkaholic |

There is an upper set of tins and a lower set. They direct air from the fan across the top of the cylinders, then it loops down and around across the bottom of the cylinders and out the back of the car. Some air travels through the openings in the cylinder fins between the cylinders as well. It's a lot less complicated than a Bugs. _________________ Joe P.

Yes, it is missing the thermostat and linkage and the flaps are not shown in the fan shroud, but all of the cooling tin is there. That is the beauty of the Type 3 pancake motor...much simpler than the upright cooling on the Type 1.
The air from the shroud goes through the rectangular openings directly into the upper cylinder shrouds. No additional ducting is required. _________________ Later,

Yeah, the thermostat / flaps are not something we really get asked for so I didn't add them to the diagram. Usually we just sell shrouds complete with the flaps, etc. The parts book here on the site has the flaps and linkage in it if it helps:
