Well, he did hear on YouTube these seats can be worth more than the Bus they came out of.
I guess it's possible, but it might slightly depend on what kind of condition said Bus is in. That's kind of a vague statement to make. |

^^^ where's the "original"??. The term "camper" is so generic as to be almost meaningless. |

I've been talking to this guy
This guy doesn't really know much about these seats.
I don't recognize them at all with the wood frames so if someone does, let me know and I will pass it on.
I also told him he could ask in the Split Bus Forum about them to get them id'd. _________________ How to Post Photos

That slow… months long… mental grinding journey to honest self realization that they’re likely not worth anything to anyone would be hard one to swallow.
From $25,000 to default beer seats near the backyard fire pit until the rain slowly destroys them and then… eventually in they go. |

The thing that is funny to me about these westy specific flips is the lowering. A westy person is a specific type of person. Especially an early westy person. It takes someone who really loves these things to see the value. Seems strange to buy a westy slam it and try to sell it for more? Don't most people want a stock height camper? _________________ -1957 Prairie Beige Oval

Yes, I only want a stock height camper. I find it interesting when you see unfinished projects like this for sale, but the wheels and lowered suspension are all set up. Just different prorities I guess. It does seem like he's losing a large section of the "Westy Market" by lowering them though. Just my worthless 2 cents. _________________ Brandon |

If you are selling a westy, show the camper kit. It makes a difference what kit is there and how complete. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Yep, not many lowered early Westfalia buses running around. You couldn't be more out of touch with your perspective market.
Conformed by the fact that the ad doesn't have ONE picture of the interior (possibly half the value of this bus???). Also, the bus you have pictured is going to look completely different (better)stock height/wheels. OP would have better luck making it stock aging before posting pics.
Not really a whine, as this does look like a nice early Westy with potential and lots of OG DB, especially if it had all/most of the interior. Any Westfalia nerd would be thrilled to own it. _________________ WANTED:

Did you mean to post this in the good deals thread? What is your whine about this particular bus?
Outside of the rust and the 36 horse, I think it is priced to move, which is not like the person selling it on consignment. Maybe I am not seeing something that you are? I do not believe it has 27k miles but the consignment seller never fact checks what owners tell him.
Yes, there is rust and Yes, the headliner stops at the C pilar, but honestly I think the price isn't insane. I would drive the heck out of this bus with the rust issues, beat up bumpers, and the tattered interior. _________________

No whine, just posting it in case people didn't see it.
I fixed the year typo
I use this as a general "Check this out" thread too.
I don't know if it's a good deal or not, it could be rusty looking at the pics on this site - I didn't look at everything on oldbug.com. _________________ How to Post Photos

Oops, it appears someone doesn't know what a "survivor" actually is. Just because it survives and exists in time and space at the present moment does not a survivor make.

It's a truck. On a farm. The fact that it wasn't reduced to a pile of twisted, dented metal and more open space than structure makes it a survivor in my book! _________________ Craig K

Other than a re paint that didn’t age well I’d say it’s pretty much a survivor it’s got all its stuff and not a pile of iron oxide. And at only a little over 29K American green backs not a bad deal. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

That SC looks overpriced for todays market IMO. By the time you ship it and pay the brokerage, duty and "chicken tax" none of you yanks are gonna think its a deal anymore even with the exchange rate in your favour. Had the seller spent more time than just gving it a bath and put a bit of sweat equity into it to get it running and driving and some proper pics that might help justify the asking price.
More/better pics may tell the rest of the story that the ad fails to. _________________ 53 SG Barndoor SC
