looks like there's F150 mufflers for that are "round" and would work but have the inlet and outlet offset. seem to cost around $150 and for $40 more you can get a vanagon MagnaFlow that fits. so... meh. but i'd be interested too in the original thread. i might not be seeing the correct one on image searches.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

I want quiet and this seems to be a good option for my EJ25.

There are 3 Walker models available available from Rockauto for the 96 F-150. Two 7 inch and one 6 inch round.

I run some variation of 80s ford/chevy 6 or 7 in $40 muffler on my 1.8T vanagon and it's nice and quiet..
which I very much prefer while traveling and arriving/departing campgrounds.
those jackasses with loud mufflers camping can suck a hard rock..

I was thinking about the f-150 bre100-5061 muffler from AutoZone for $70 and a lifetime warranty.

A little more than some, but the others are all like 1 to 3 year warranty.

I am unable to find the 6" version in stock anywhere. Does anyone have any leads?

FWIW I am near Baltimore but am fine to have it shipped here.

Does the F150 muffler bolt right up or does it require cutting and welding?

l think they require welding, either to a flange, or to everything else to create that perfect one piece exhaust l see too often under folks vans

Yes. You'll need to weld on a flange for the cat side. And maybe for the tail pipe too depending on what you choose.

Ah, ok, so cut the flange off the old exhaust and then weld it onto the F150 muffler. The Westy's exhaust makes the Titanic look showroom fresh.

Easier to weld a new flange vs rusty crud.
