|

Hi, its been way toooooo long...but good to be getting back in the scene!
I'm resurrecting my trusty Syncro after a lengthy hibernation. I need to get some new pads and rotors for my original, 1st gen Small Car Performance Big Brake Kit and Rear Disc Conversion Kit. Trouble is that I am having trouble finding exactly what those pads/rotors were. SMP seems to only have records for their new stuff. IIRC, the fronts are Gerlings off an Audi 5000 and the rears are New Beetle? I have my original pack slip that indicated following info but the part #s don't seem to lead to anything very specific when I search the interweb..
"Front - Pads:D447SM, Rotors: 8E0-615-301A
Rear - Pads:D363SM, Rotors: 447-615-601A"
Can anyone please help me track down what these parts are? _________________ '90 Flat-top Syncro

Not to be snarky, but have you googled those numbers? You might be surprised. Here is a problem with aftermarket kits, the companies progress and support for the earlier stuff is gone. We had a customer that needed replacement GW front rotors. They were out of stock on indefinite back order.
While expensive, I’d order 2 of everything if I was installing aftermarket brakes to ensure I had spares. I’m surprised Smallcar can’t help |

It might come as a surprise to some, but I did in fact Google those numbers...which turned up nothing specific...hence the post and plead for help. I was also told that brake numbers are not standardized (seriously?!) which might be why i'm not turning up exactly what I need when searching the web with those IDs. _________________ '90 Flat-top Syncro

The 447 number sounds like an Audi number. https://parts.audiusa.com/p/Audi__/Disc-Brake-Rotor/48779022/447615601A.html
The D on the pads reminds me of Repco Metalmaster pad numbers.
Worse case, Pegasus Auto Supply has Hawk and Performance friction pad templates you might be able to match up. Coleman Machine can make custom rotors for less than you might think. You could send one of each. Porterfield brakes can take your old pads and refurbish them. So lots of options. |

Rear brakes are from a 1990 vintage Audi V8. Caliper is Girling stamped 4143.
Rotor was Zimmerman (I sourced from FCP Euro), cheap Chinese Centric cracked on installation. Rockauto has pads, calipers and rebuild kits. |

Like Mark said, Google...
Front rotors:

Front pads, with the VW part number listed for further research

You get the idea, I'll let you do the rear. _________________ Silicone Steering Boots and 930 Cv boots for sale in the classifieds.

From the Pelican parts link the front looks like they are from the 1988 Audi 5000 |

Wow, thanks so much, I really appreciate the help!!
Mark and Alika: I feel sorta foolish; not sure where I was going wrong but my internet searches didn't turn up anything that definitive. I am going to assume that my general brake ignorance didn't help and I just wasn't sure what I was looking for or at. I really appreciate the leads, thanks!
Wesitarz: that Audi info would corroborate my fuzzy memory of where I suspected the SCP sourced components back then. Very helpful, thanks! _________________ '90 Flat-top Syncro
