This is so cool!
Enjoy your trip!
I have a T3 friend in Amsterdam, we met years ago when I delivered him an arm rest strapped to my backpack. The customs at the airport were so curious everytime....
I do hope you have installed a kill switch in your van
Aloha!

Spent the last ten days with my friends in Latvia. I fly to Amsterdam tomorrow to pick up the euroBus.
Here is my route for the next ten days.
When I retrieve the euroBus from stalling/storage I need to buy a used bike and then find a campground just East of Amsterdam for the night.
I am using the app Campercontact (Thanks Corwyn) to find campsites. There are a ton around here... _________________ Dave O

Hi Dave. I've camped in my Westy at this place several different times.
https://www.europarcs.com/holiday-parks/het-amsterdamse-bos
It has been several years so who knows but they had a lot of bikes for rent that we rode into the city a couple times.
It also had good transportation links for bus and for light rail into the city center.

Looks amazing Dave thanks for taking us along.
The prevalence of little camp parks like that in the parts of Europe Iโve been to- priceless. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. "Frankie" Totaled https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=764510&highlight=carnage

Hanging at a campground in Holland an extra day. I forgot to extend my european car insurance! Taking care of that now. And since I turned 65 I need a letter from my doc. The time difference is making me stay the extra day to get it.
Stupid move but only will lose a day of travel. Taking advantage of it to chill out and set up the bus. _________________ Dave O

Whew! I tried calling my doc in the US and got their answering machine even way past opening hours. Got nervous that maybe the office was closed for the 4th. In desperation I chose the 'press 1 for the doc on call' option and was surprised when an hour later the office called me. Their phones had been down due to to storms. In an hour I had my letter, and an hour after that the insurance was in my email. The camp host was very gracious to print my papers and I was good to be on the road. _________________ Dave O

I left the camp reasonably early and headed northeast over the Zuiderzee causeway. Quite the engineering project.
Destination east of Hamburg. This was a travel day. Total of 7.5 hours of driving. 1 hour of that was in construction traffic which really was not fun but the bus was running well so no worries. _________________ Dave O

Driving impressions:
Google maps works well in Europe now that they own Waze. Speed limits and gps vehicle speed are displayed (also in the US now too).
The Netherlands has speed limits on all roads it seems. Highways are 100 or 120 kph. Drivers are courteous and have good lane awareness. Speeding almost non existent. Was not a hassle to drive.
Germany is fun! Driving on the A roads (Autobahn) is a blast. I can cruise in the right lane at 100kph in peace. Trucks seem to be limited to 90kph so I passed every truck I came upon! Early on I noticed there were many areas where Google Maps did not display a speed limit..... D'oh that was because no speed limit was in effect there! Speed limts of 100-120kph were only in effect in urban areas of the autobahn.
When overtaking a truck you must look behind you and if you see ANY vehicle in the left lane you have to judge speed, basically if you see it you assume it is doing 160+kph. So I never pass if there is a car behind me coming up in the left lane. No issues.
All drivers had excellent lane awareness. A car passing me at a high rate of speed still pulled into the right lane in case someone behind them was faster.
The bonus for me of driving 100kph is that I have plenty of reserve speed to pass. It takes about 10 seconds to initiate and finish a pass on a truck. At that point I am doing about 115kph. The stock 2.1 is up to the task.
There were cars passing me at my estimate of 120-140mph in the left lane. Fun!
And no one goes over the speed limit more than 5kph... anywhere. _________________ Dave O
