That's impressive the amount of miles you put on that thing, and very minimal issues. |

And after this weekend there was another 1500 miles trouble free
I made it to the type 3 invasion this year and the Squareback made it too. My friends ended up driving it out from Midland, MI and meeting me in Auburn NY. We took the square and the bus to the invasion and did some camping with them. The invasion was a blast and it was great to meet everyone. Hopefully in the next few years I can start fixing all the rust on the square.

A little late on the replies and a long awaited update...
Scotty D, It was a great time at the invasion, crazy it was almost a year ago
squaretobehip, It was great getting to meet you too! I'm (and my friends) are hoping to make the invasion next summer
After the invasion, my friend drove the square a bit more but once it got back to my house it just sat till this weekend I was 7 hours away for school and maybe drove it around Thanksgiving, but I haven't been home much.
I have my 91 Syncro at my internship but I want to do some engine and transmission work on it so I needed another car to drive. I decided I wanted to get back to the Squareback. I knew it needed a new mainshaft bearing in it though which I planned to do at my internship.
On Friday, I rode up with one of my friends from West Virginia back to Michigan for the weekend. I did a valve adjustment and engine oil change on it Saturday and it was running great. Sunday around noon I realized I had some time, I've done one mainshaft bearing on my 71 westy, I got the tools setup and ready, it shouldn't be that bad...
Everything going up to removing the bearing went fairly well. I was surprised to find a few things seized that I had taken apart a few years ago. But the bearing refused to come out. The puller I adapted for the westy bearing didn't work. I tried an internal puller and couldn't get it with that. I adapted a three arm puller, got it halfway out and then it slipped off. I got frustrated and tried to weld it in place. That did not work to say the least
I ended up making another adapted version and got it out. I put the new bearing in with the help of my dad. He helped with cleaning up the shift selector and putting the new seal in it, a big thanks to him. Anyways, we got the transmission together around 2am, and I still needed to leave the next day
I got back to work at 9:30 that morning and somehow got the car back together by noon on Monday (Memorial day). The test drive went great and it seemed to be running good and the bearing noise was gone. I left Michigan for West Virginia at around 1:30pm. Somehow, I made it with zero issues, two gas stops, averaging around 27 mpg and it was a great drive. I got to Huntington around 10 and was done for the day to say the least
Now it's back to daily driver status while I rip the syncro apart. I will say it is great to be driving this again. I have a 35-50 mintue commute to work and it is nice for it.

Thank you! I have been enjoying it! It’s fun driving Joann around, it makes the tight streets around here a lot nicer to drive on.
Not much to update, mainly just a couple pictures and showing it’s still going good.
This morning was the first issue since the transmission work. I went to leave for work and it wouldn’t start. I had driven it a couple hours yesterday in extreme heat so I wasn’t to surprised it wasn’t happy with me I went with the classic messing with the trigger points plug and bending the prongs on it and it fired right up and was fine That trick has saved me a lot of times
Other than that I’ve been driving it to work and met my parents out for a weekend in the mountains of West Virginia near New River Gorge. I changed gear oil on it and that’s about it besides putting gas in the tank. I’ve probably put 1k-1.5k miles on it since the transmission work. It even took my Syncro transmission to the car wash

It’s definitely been a nice, I’ve put over 2k miles on it so far. It’s been good on gas and fun for the long drive to work
