Can anyone tell me if the plastic defroster vent seen in picture 109 of this auction is original? My 1970 coupe does not have these (I don't think - need to look tonight), but as far as I can tell my interior is all original. |

I don't think those are correct.
They might be the rear vent repurposed?

Those are late model front defroster vents, 72-74. They could have also been used for 1970 but I’m not sure. 1970 had slightly smaller defroster vents a used a one year only pad that didn’t use plastic trims from what I recall. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

It's been a busy month.
As of today there are four current Ghia auctions happening with another three completed.
We are only nine days into July |

Thanks Dan! We missed you. The auction somehow didn’t seem complete without your very astute and honest comments! I really wanted this car. I actually bid on it when it was listed by Mecum in Kissimmee , Florida January 2024 auction but decided to stop bidding at 30k. Shoulda/ coulda….This semi automatic should be interesting. I have enough Ghia’s with the 4 speed manual transmissions. When this gem arrives you know that I’m going to be feasting my purest eyes all over it for a while before I drive it. I’m prepared to realize that it probably won’t look as pristine as it appears in the BAT listing. They always look nicer in the photos. |
Got my 69 Cabriolet all the way from N. Carolina! As it turns out it actually looks better in real life contrary to my last statement. LOL! It runs perfectly and drives like a new car. Everything is immaculate just as the photos on BAT showed. I didn’t realize how worn my other Ghia’s (including the “restored” ones) were until I drove this car. It’s pretty cool to actually drive and feel a super low milage 18, 880 miles Ghia. The semi automatic takes some getting used to and it’s actually pretty fun. It’s needs nothing except the correct skinny white wall tires which i’m going to install very soon.

I give up on valuing Ghias. I had this at $45, on a good day. Non-original color, motor, interior, painted dash. But the BAT guys do love a shiny resto. Makes me want to list my polar '63, although the car's originality might hurt it. _________________ 63 Ghia polar blue

That is the great thing about Ghia's, if the modifications are not too extreme and the craftsmanship is there which seems obvious with this one, they have been selling for strong money for awhile now.
Many of the top BAT sales are modified to some extent.
But if you want to do resto in your own vision this could be a perfect candidate....
Just listed

A buyer that is looking for a factory original Ghia wasn't bidding on the 67.
If you have a good original car they can bring strong money, especially a nice lowlight.
But outside of the lowlights nearly all top 10 sales are modified.
$118k
Top Bat sale to date.
