thanks for the link, I was going to look for some sealant like that.
Excellent work on that tank mod, you shouldn't have any issue with that setup.
I agree, all these companies know how to make the tank, it's more of whether they choose to do a good job or just don't care much. For some reason though, none of them seem to care about packing them well for shipping. _________________ 1989 Westfalia full camper, 2WD, 4-speed, 2.1 WBX |

well, I noticed that the filler neck hole area was also dented so I ended up returning it and getting a new one. New one arrived today and only one corner is bent, no dents at all! I also ended up getting it 10$ cheaper. $172 and change all in.
Maybe I'll have the van back together soon and focus on other issues. ha! _________________ 1989 Westfalia full camper, 2WD, 4-speed, 2.1 WBX |

good on 'ya for doing the return...if we accept crap, we'll get crap, its only after the bean counters see that shipping is costing them only then will they make adjustments to packaging and/or lean on the shipper _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

Its too bad these are all straight copies of the original design. Would be nice if someone made one that had a larger volume. 80 liters (21 gal) would be a worthwhile upgrade. _________________ 82 Westy TDI (ahu) |

I wonder if there would have to be a certification process for that? _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

There was a 20+ gal VW RSA tank you could buy but they went NLA years ago.
I knew a few people with them in their Vanagons.
Ken at Vanagain sold them at one time.
Not exactly bolt-in but not too difficult.
The tank simply extended back farther than the original tank.
edit: here are some old threads about them

Very cool, yes that's exactly what I'd like as an upgrade. Too bad nobody is selling them any more. Someone should locate one and produce a run of them. A right profitable venture that would be. You could probably sell tens of them. TENS!! _________________ 82 Westy TDI (ahu) |
