Wow, congrats, a very nice car!
What I could not see, no pics, is the upper affixing of rear shocks, or what kind of rear shocks were used. A 1962 stock frame has the long shock towers for rear shocks. Imo, something must be shortened, fine tuned, or the body rear wheel arch cut out for clearance. |

Here you can spot some and looks like modified late shocktowers.

Thanks, but not really much to see. How about a pic, when the rear shocks are installed? A solid construction for that constellation would be interesting for more projects and members, I believe. This modification most probably includes cutting and welding of shock towers. The lower shock mounts of the 311 trans are twisted. Maybe old axle tube used. Which rear shocks are used? Would be interesting to see, how it works, or which special parts are needed, pics?
Also interesting would be, how the choke cable and kind of pull knob is located, solved. |

What a fantastic thread. Great story, documentation, photos, and archives!
I have to admit I was a little shocked to see the 2021 resto with the upgrades.
And now it's back in the U.S.A. in California! Backstory on that, please! _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

Thanks for sharing this amazing story from the start Bob! This was one of the cars I was blown away by when I used to buy old VW Beetle books when I was a kid.
Have you been to visit the car in California now its back? _________________ Fender Bug |
