So in July my 63 Beetles dash light for the turn signal suddenly started blinking by itself. When I used the turn signal it stopped... also the signals blinked really fast.
I immediately thought something happened to my wiring, like mice.
Checked my grounds, that made a little difference.
So then I thought I will clean them up and tighten things.
But the blinking picked up a pattern like it was the ignition firing.
Since I am trying to get more comfortable with the electricity end of keeping my old 6 volt car, I was wondering what changed.
Then I checked my battery, and it's only been connected since April, but the terminals were completely caked over. So I got my little Dremel like tool with a wire wheel and cleaned it all up. Also found the lead from #30 on the ignition switch was loose.
After an hours drive it seems to have gone away?
I am hoping. I should mention I have LEDs on my signals, and a WW relay. And I like the setup. I also mounted a brake light on my roof rack high up so the large trucks around here see it.
Just thought I would share in case anyone else has this odd thing happen. Check the basics. Especially the start of the electric system, the battery.
